I am saying that some GM's, regardless of market size, aren't trying to make a team to win a championship that year.

Some are making a team that is going to sell tickets. Signing stars to max contracts helps that. PG13 is a bonified star that will make the team enjoyable to watch during the regular season, hence more regular season ticket sales come in, which is 80% of the revenue typically.

so when you say no right minded GM, you need to consider what state of mind they are in, and PG13 sells tickets, period

I get what you're saying, its just not a smart point or even disagreeing with me lol. Obviously worthless teams like sacramento would like to have him, they are gonna be playing in Seattle within the next decade lol. No one cares about them.

No competent GM would sign him to a max at this point.

This isn't true, many competent GM's would sign him to a max.

He would be a good fit for any team wanting to get into playoffs, so I'd say half of the NBA signing him would be a smart move

Scott Perry
Travis Schlenk
Chris Wallace
Robert Michael Myers
John Hammond
Michael Winger <--- Clippers GM

So lets examine this

You think the Knicks, Hawks, Magic, and Grizzlies have competent GMs? lol
GSW could not and cannot sign PG to a max, that would be dumb decision and their actually competent GM would not do that
Clippers are obviously regretting signing him

Grizzlies made good moves this year for Ja, winning ROTY over Zion and Herro and Berrett.

Magic have a GM that can at least get them good pieces, thats more competent than the Hawks GM I get that.

Knicks GM isn't the best, but he would definitely sign PG and I think you would say that would be a good move for the Knicks if they could land him no?

And think of this potential power move, Sign PG13 to a max and then trade him, GSW say they had room in 2 years, they get him at a deal then can sign him for possibly more potential. He is always a good trade asset and for a non Bird 4 year max you can bargain for whatever you need from GSW, or any team for that matter.

I think any competent GM wouldnt give PG a max. If a non playoff team needed to sell seats then i can see them giving PG a max. But a playoff contending team wont give PG a max unless their star threatens to leave (bucks/Giannis) 25m a year for pg sounds ok.

Clippers GM did

And yes any Competent GM taht wants to make money would.

again, Considering Siakam and Richardson have Maxes, that is the bar of the market in this day and age, and anyone would rather have PG13 over those two for the same price. No one wouldn't

Maxes are about the money the player will make, it isn't always about winning a championship, this is a business, not a fairy tale.

Well yeah but im talking about after the Clippers fiasco. Even the Lakers wanted to give PG the max and I was down for that too as a Lakers fan after his OKC stunt.
