What if I told you that John Wall is even better than his best all-star days with the Wizards?
He's much quicker and he even admitted being out two years was good for his mental health.

And Boogie Cousins is looking like a beast again. Both are 30-year-old playmakers. I love it!
It's just the preseason though. We'll find out how good the Rockets are starting December 23.

Boogie can still ball and is a brute force that can also shoot threes. Doesn't have to be an all-star for the Rockets to be a dangerous team. Christian Wood can play the 5 or 4 also. The Rockets are much better than they were last year when they had zero size and couldn't rebound.

I think Wall will still be really good

Cousins? Eh, we'll see.

Worst case scenario is the Rockets and 76ers both get off to a slow start. Then a James Harden for Ben Simmons trade is definitely happening! If that happens I wouldn't be upset building around a 25-year-old Christian Wood and a 24-year-old Ben Simmons. Those two young players plus extra first-round draft picks will help accelerate a rebuilding plan.

Either way, the Rockets will either compete for the playoffs or have an exciting young team. They're not the Knicks. Horrible comparison somebody made last week!

Cousins IS a shell of his former self lol

There's no IF about it, dude is slow as shit now and looks nothing like his prime years. He's serviceable but nowhere near a star caliber piece anymore.

True, I worded that poorly, we're not gonna see 28/12 Cousins again. Going into the season I'm optimistic for a 16/8 level player assuming still has that solid 3 point shot he had developed, that would be an absolute steal for the Rockets given how cheap his contract is. A

Yeah he'll be good value, but can't expect him to be a legit block to anchor the team. Seems like more of a role player on a really good team now than a go-to guy.

I'm sure we'll see him explode in big games here and there, but I can't imagine we'll see consistent domination like we used to. 16/8 seems realistic. Health is going to be a big question mark of course.

Update on the James Harden front from @wojespn:

• The Rockets are hoping to get a deal done "sooner rather than later"
• They are looking into a 3-team trade to make sure they get the player they want

The 76ers should consider trading Ben Simmons for James Harden if a deal is actually on the table

On the local sports-radio show they say it's 60-40 that James Harden is traded before opening night.
60% he's gone soon. We'll see. It's going to feel tough to lose a great player but we have to move on.
Eight straight years of making the playoffs since Harden's arrival. The longest active streak in the NBA.

LOL. The funny thing is they're bringing back Linsanity.
