Jimmy has played 64 playoff games with MIA, shooting 40% or less in 20 of them. That's not good enough. Because he's so likable and MIA is always the underdog he avoids the game to game criticism that other stars of his caliber face, but his actual playoff resume is one that would be drawing a lot of criticism and questioning of he's good enough to be a best player on a title team. He just gets the benefit of only being talked about to praise his highest moments. This is especially true because Miami has overachieved consistently in recent years.

Could not agree more. Well said.

He’s gone from underrated to pretty overrated imo.

I just spent wayyyyy too much time verifying the random quote you have in your notes

Quote
When we watch sporting events and listen to the commentary, we often hear things about the “intangibles” and the “it-factor” and “clutch”.

So what exactly is clutch? Is it coming back from being down 14 to start the 4th quarter? Is it going for 20/8/8 while guarding the opposing team’s best overall offensive player? Or is it making the game-winning shot on the road with 2.2 seconds left on the clock, and sinking the “favorites” in the first game of the playoffs?

You be the judge, but this is the NBA, where Iguodala happens.

20 of 64 playoff games = 31.25% of the games where Butler shot 40% or worse.

Now, let's take a look at Jayson "bright lights" Tatum. He has played in 94 playoff games in his career with Boston, and has shot 40% or worse in 31 of them. That's 32.97% of playoff games where he has shot 40% or worse.

Because you're out here preaching about a stat that makes Butler look bad, but Tatum is even worse 🤣
