Most US customary units and imperial units are actually just measured as fractions of metric units. A foot is 0.3048 meters, for example.
They actually have their benefits. Their main advantage is divisibility. In many fields of work, dividing units by 3 and 4 for thirds and quarters is essential. 12 (inches in a foot) is divisible by 2, 3, 4, and 6. The same goes for most other US and imperial units. Metric units are only divisible by 2 and 5.
The metric system is better of course, but it annoys me when people act like the US system and imperial system are retarded and useless and inferior in every way. Europeans can be do dumb.
