I thought the Dallas Mavericks were a guaranteed top four seed in the Western Conference!
And then when they acquired Kyrie Irving I was convinced they were NBA Title contenders...

Sam Cassell would excite me if the Houston Rockets hired him as their next head coach. Even though Nick Nurse probably has the edge early on. Scott Brooks isn't a bad option either. Sam Cassell is a three-time champion as a player (won back-to-back NBA championships with the Rockets in '94 and '95) and has been an assistant coach for 14 years! He's long overdue for a head coaching opportunity in the NBA. He's paid his dues. But Nick Nurse seems like a guy the Rockets are going to salivate over in the coming weeks.

I feel bad for Stephen Silas because he had three years with a mostly undisciplined and horrible team that didn't even commit to playing defense. The only good thing is the young talent the Rockets have is respectable. Jalen Green (21), Jabari Smith Jr. (19) and Alperen Sengun (20) can all play at an exciting level. Kevin Porter Jr. (22) is pretty good also. I put their age by their names because all four are pretty young! More experience together with a couple good veteran signings in free agency will help the Houston Rockets tremendously!

Throughout the season players like Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Nikola Jokić were praising the Rockets young talent. And to their credit they won a few games late in the season against some really good teams. Even with college-aged kids as their four best players they were starting to win some games.

I'm worried that James Harden is going to come back to the Houston Rockets this summer. I've got to mentally prepare myself for that...

Tari Eason also. 21 years old. Can play multiple positions. Looks like a future 15-10 player. Put up 9-6 as a rookie.
The Houston Rockets have too much young talent. What they need now is good coaching and veteran leadership.
As a Rockets fan the last three years have been difficult but this summer they have a chance to become good again.
