Wtf r u talking about, this thread was an obvious troll.. Everyone knew Teabag was joking and wasn't gonna let him take that guys measly 5fg even if he was serious.

It wasn't an obvious troll to the OP.

He was offered terms to a bet which were accepted by both sides in plain English and TB didnt plan to pay if he lost.

No that's not my opinion, it must be black and white. There has to be complete objectiveness so that there's never an argument over whether a bet is official or not.

Now you dont even know what an opinion means.

If you join a new sub forum and you've never bet before you should take 3 minutes and find / read the rules. If you decide not to, once again that is your fault.

You assigning blame to new users/victim blaming does not mean the rules should be ridiculous and counter-intuitive.
I dont think you understand how logic works.

Here's what will happen.

"My lakers +5 vs magic for 500"
Random guy posts "I'll take magic -5 for 300"
OP "ok u got 300 glgl"
Guy #2 "will you take my magic -5 for 300 also?"
OP "ok fine 300 more for u too"

After the game guy #2 will be like "wow I never confirmed I was asking if you would take 300 more but u took to long to reply so I forgot about it"

Do you see where if guy #2 posted "I'll take my magic -5 for another 300 if you want, c'd before tipoff" and then OP quotes him and "confirmed" how that is a much much much better system.

How do you not understand this?

Do you not see how you added terms in the 2nd example, and how something else could replace "c'd"?

"I'll take magic -5 for another 300 if you want, i accept the bet if you accept before halftime"

Do you not see how the "c'd" system doesnt have to be abandoned for users who want to use that terminology?
You can use that exact same sentence you posted and nothing will change for you.

"200fg on cavs s/u"
"I ll take this bet"
"ok cool gl"
"gl"
That can't be a bet in your world, no matter what?
Seems pretty black and white to me.

I gave you an example of why your system doesn't work.

There's no reason to add more words. "Confirmed" works fine and the system works fine for bets here all day everyday. Why would you add more words and make it more confusing. Find me 1 example of someone not knowing the rules and actually getting scammed? You're trying to talk about a problem that doesn't exist

Not everyone knows or likes "confirmed".
Like I said, if you want to use confirmed you can use it. Nothing is stopping you.

When two parties clearly agree to a bet in plain English and it doesn't count as a bet something is wrong. Period. Even if it happens rarely as most of us are familiar with it by now.

The example you pointed out that shows "why my system doesn't work" DOESNT EVEN ADDRESS THE ISSUE I'M TALKING ABOUT

I said confirmation should be allowed in other forms that don't specifically include the word confirmed.
If guy #2 responds "ok gl" at the end he didn't say "c'd", but I think that should be a bet.

Are you going to answer my question:

"200fg on cavs s/u"
"I ll take this bet"
"ok cool gl"
"gl"

dear lord you're still missing the point. Where do you draw the line on what's a "bet" and what isn't, when is it official and when is it not? it's not that the English isn't black and white it's that you start introducing a ton of different options.

The system leaves 1 option that is universal and the EXACT same for everybody and every single betting situation so there is 0 confusion.

The whole system is designed to protect people from getting scammed. It's literally worked for years and years and years. If the confirmed system is too difficult for you to understand then get lost.

You go into a thread and see all these people saying "c'd" and you don't ask them what that is? You don't read the rules? You don't use a mediatior? And then you get scammed, but it's the systems fault?

I can't continue posting here. It's just talking in circles at this point. Have you noticed nobody has backed u up yet? There's a reason for that...

Oh good. an ad populum fallacy, more arrogant douchebaggery, and victim blaming while ignoring all of the points and counter points that I made and grossly overstating the effectiveness of the current system as all sunshine and roses for "years and years". A+

Yes you are talking in circles while not addressing what I wrote. At least you recognized that.

Cam,

I think part of the problem is that you are assuming the current system promotes/deters a dishonest person from doing dishonest things. It has no bearing in my opinion. Whether a person abides by the list or not, if that person is dishonest, no set form of rules will deter him from doing dishonest things.

If a dishonest person uses the "cool gl" technicality to do a bm non-bet, then that person does not care about his reputation--he does not care if he is viewed as a welcher on a list or an unofficial welcher by the general betting public. The bm bettor is penny-wise and pound-foolish, since it is likely that, although his gains would be short-lived, the fallout would be general scorn from all other gm bettors who would refuse to bet with the bm bettor and castigate him whenever he tries to bet in the future. This person would never become active, although he would not be officially listed as a welcher. Of course, to a new bettor who is not aware of or who does not follow the "CD" rule, the bm person's presence on the welcher list would be irrelevant, since this person does not follow the unofficial betting guide anyway. The bm bettor would not care about his reputation, which includes being on the welcher list, since he does not value his integrity. To put it simply, there is no deterrent for someone with no morals, and the threat of "punishment" (being put on the welcher list; being viewed as bm) is not a deterrent for this person.
