There are 14 active players to make at least 40% from 3 in their career (min. 1,000 3-pt FGA).

2 were acquired by the 76ers yesterday. Seth Curry and Danny Green.

It really is insane how much of a difference a competent front office can have on fan outlook. Literally everyone hated the firing of Hinkie, and the hiring of the Colangelos was super unpopular as well. I also can't believe the FO thought it would be a good idea to hire a rookie GM in Elton Brand without any veteran oversight.

I'm not sure how much the Sixers will improve this season from last season, but at the very least I am much more optimistic about the season with a head coach that got the maximum value out of Tobias Harris and Daryl bringing in his analytics into the scene.

This roster is built a lot like the one from a few years ago that won 52 games and statistically had the most productive offense in the NBA:

Then:

Simmons
Redick
Covington
Saric
Embiid

Now:

Simmons
Curry
Green
Harris
Embiid

(assuming Curry and Green start, which isn't decided yet of course)

Free agency starts tomorrow as well, and i'd expect some short term additions there as well. Bigger plans ahead for sure though, Morey is looking for another star to play next to Simmons and Embiid.

Danny is just a place holder anyway, an expiring contract regardless. If he's ass then whatever, he's gone anyway. If he ends up producing like he did the season before when he shot like 45% from 3pt then great.

A team with championship aspirations doesn't go out and get placeholders. They need actual players, not players who may not work out.

I'd like to look at it on the bright side. Danny Green has been on two consecutive NBA championship teams. Sixers 2020-2021 NBA Champs confirmed.

Rome wasn't built in a day

Danny Green certainly fits what the Sixers want and need, a 3&D player with veteran/championship experience. I guess calling him a placeholder was a bit much, but what I mean is he's not some huge investment or long term commitment.

I mean there's no reason he won't be a key role player, just like he has been the last two years on Championship teams. He's just one year removed from a season where he shot 45.5% from 3pt (good for 2nd in the entire NBA). Even if this dude shoots 38-40% that's going to to be great for this team.

Bigger picture though, it's obvious Morey has big plans to attack another star caliber player. Whether it's this year, or in the off-season next year when the Sixers have cap space, they're going to have the flexibility to make moves and that's a great feeling to have back.

it has been like 6-7 years of building...... you dont get placeholders unless you need to rebuild or you built incorrectly

Correction, it's "rome wasn't built in a day" or some shit idk rofl

Anyways, yeah they built incorrectly that's the point of removing the Horford contract. Morey came in, realized the mistake that was made and the issues the team had last season and quickly removed them. Shit didn't pan out last season, at all. Too cluttered, and not enough shooting or shot creating. Also, BB fucking sucked donkey dick.

Horford & Richardson were the two additions made last off-season, and in one day Morey erased both of them and replaced them with two 3pt specialists. Pretty much addressed what all the fans have been asking for, shooters to surround Embiid/Simmons with and maintain cap flexibility to add an additional star eventually.

This mf needs to stop trying to jinx us

"Daryl Morey has come in & worked miracles right away. When you put Danny Green & Seth Curry around Tobias Harris, Ben Simmons & Joel Embiid that starting 5 is elite on both ends.... On paper, the 76ers are as nice as anybody, except for Brooklyn, in the East." — @Chris_Broussard

I just wonder if that will be the starting 5. Do they consider Thybulle or Milton instead of Curry? And have Curry as the 6th man?

Or even if Maxey really shows something in practice they may insert him into the starting lineup as he gives them a different kind of scoring skillset w/ defense. He would not necessarily get starting minutes though

Assuming this is the front court we go into the season with, I'd say Simmons, Green, Harris and Embiid are set as starters.

I think Curry starts as well, he'll fill that JJ Redick role and give them that big time 3pt threat. Plus, I think Shake off the bench would be legit.

Hopefully Thybulle improves his outside shot and it's more consistent.
