I remember what it is like when the Lakers are defending champs now. The other teams always come out of the gate giving it everything they have because this is their Super Bowl, so it is natural for the Lakers to have a hard time keeping pace in the early going because it's just another game for them when their playing teams like Detroit, Memphis, etc. In the end the difference in skill shows itself and they usually win, plus they get a lot of help from the refs, especially against teams like Memphis, OKC, etc.
