compete with what?
Ingram? who averages 8 pts? Dead last in Plus-Minus this year.
Russell? who is a complete flop so far.
We could've gotten cousins with Ingram and we dont even have to worry about him leaving cuz he clearly stated himself that he wanted to play for the lakers.
By you guy's logic, we need to continue to tank. Looking for top draft picks and pass up on the best C in the league. Hopefully we can attract another superstar in the off season with nothing on our team.
First year. Give him a year and another off season where he can get better. You don't pull the trigger on your number two pick after HALF a season.
Russell has shown great stuff and needs to be more consistent.
Randle is not far from being a 15/8 guy on a nightly basis.
Nance Jr is pure energy off the bench, he's a real good lockerroom guy as well.
Clarkson probably the only guy that's' expendable.
As for Cousins. We don't know exactly what was being offered and what Kings asked for. JUST Ingram? I doubt it.
I can understand the lesser people would just pull the trigger on a Ingram for DMC trade but consider that we'd have to send more money to Kings.
DMC making alot more than Ingram, so they probably asked for another young guy plus Lou (who's basically a first rounder, as we saw from Rockets offer).
Would they accept Mozgov? No way in hell. Deng? No way in hell.
$15,756,438 is what Cousins make. Ingram makes $5,281,680 and Lou makes $7,000,000. That's a couple mill short. Now if you add Randle, it works out, or if you add Nance, it works out.
That's a trade far to steep to make. It would've set us back to the 2014 season in terms of talent if Cousins decide to walk.
He wants to win. If we miss out in 2017 free agency, and don't get our top 3 pick, why would he stay in Lakerland? Say Thunder matches our offer for him. There's TONS of teams that can max him out.
