cant believe these dumb ass lakers fans
Magic is on the same page as me, and this further proves that Buss/Mitch firing was because of Cousins trade.

Arash Markazi ✔ @ArashMarkazi
Jim and Mitch were attached to their young players but there is no player on the Lakers roster that is safe if there's a player Magic wants.

True, but not rentals. You want us to compete this year and we're at 19-39. Next year is where we need to compete.

compete with what?
Ingram? who averages 8 pts? Dead last in Plus-Minus this year.
Russell? who is a complete flop so far.

We could've gotten cousins with Ingram and we dont even have to worry about him leaving cuz he clearly stated himself that he wanted to play for the lakers.

By you guy's logic, we need to continue to tank. Looking for top draft picks and pass up on the best C in the league. Hopefully we can attract another superstar in the off season with nothing on our team.

Sam Amick ✔ @sam_amick
Going after DeMarcus Cousins was Jim & Mitch's last-ditch attempt to save their jobs, I'm told. Jim really wanted him, Mitch handled talks

Jeanie is done w/ Lakers' inability to get stars in Laker Land, & she had always seemed convinced Cousins could calm down in their setting.

First year. Give him a year and another off season where he can get better. You don't pull the trigger on your number two pick after HALF a season.
Russell has shown great stuff and needs to be more consistent.
Randle is not far from being a 15/8 guy on a nightly basis.
Nance Jr is pure energy off the bench, he's a real good lockerroom guy as well.
Clarkson probably the only guy that's' expendable.

As for Cousins. We don't know exactly what was being offered and what Kings asked for. JUST Ingram? I doubt it.
I can understand the lesser people would just pull the trigger on a Ingram for DMC trade but consider that we'd have to send more money to Kings.
DMC making alot more than Ingram, so they probably asked for another young guy plus Lou (who's basically a first rounder, as we saw from Rockets offer).
Would they accept Mozgov? No way in hell. Deng? No way in hell.
$15,756,438 is what Cousins make. Ingram makes $5,281,680 and Lou makes $7,000,000. That's a couple mill short. Now if you add Randle, it works out, or if you add Nance, it works out.
That's a trade far to steep to make. It would've set us back to the 2014 season in terms of talent if Cousins decide to walk.
He wants to win. If we miss out in 2017 free agency, and don't get our top 3 pick, why would he stay in Lakerland? Say Thunder matches our offer for him. There's TONS of teams that can max him out.

whatever the case may be, we could've offered better than what Pelicans did. This failed blockbuster trade was 100% Mitch/Jim's fault because they didnt close out the deal, which is why they got fired.
Its pointless arguing now because its too late.
Like i said, You guys will regret this when we sign another superstar.

Of course we could've offered better. But ask around and it's ONLY you that are mad we didn't get Cousins, no other Lakerfan is mad. Why do you think that is? Because we can see what it would've meant next year, while you can only look so far as to the next game.

Yeah, two scenarios. Either he leaves or stay.

1. He stay
2. He leave.

1. It's a good trade, we have Cousins and that's about it. Maybe we have DLo and Nance as well. Still, we didn't get our top 3 pick, and we still have Deng and Mozgov signed to huge contracts. We'll be paying 50+m to two centers, and another 18m to a shit SF. That's at least 70m in three players, two of which can't play together because same position.
We have limited cap space and could probably not offer someone a max, so yeah, we have DMC, but we're gonna have to play at least one or two years of mediocre basketball, a la .500 record, before we can get real good, unless we somehow luck out and get a nice free agent under the max or somehow manages to get rid of Mozgov and/or Deng.

2. It's a shit trade, because we gave up our top 3 pick in 2017 (could potentially be a really good and deep draft). We gave up Ingram, who has potential (why else was he, among ALL SCOUTS, considered a top 3 pick?). We gave up either Lou (who is now a late 1st round pick due to trade) + maybe Randle or even worse, maybe DLo and Nance.
We have set ourselves back at least two years because we gave up half of our young core for nothing but a couple extra wins in a season where we SHOULD BOTTOM OUT (trust the process).

I get you man, I honestly do, we don't want to be shit but you can't yolo it like we did with Dwight. Teams rarely get full value back when they trade players that won't commit long term. He's gonna opt out and be a free agent and field MAX offers from at least 10 teams, and we're not gonna be the best situation for him.

This year we have 500k cap space and DMC is 16 mil. Ingram is only 5 mil. We would have to give another 1-2 player just to make this trade happen. Plus they wanted 1st rounder, 2nd rounder, and Ingram. Plus 1-2 more guys just to make the cap space work.

Not to mention he would just walk away next year. We still would not make playoffs with Cousins.

Your saying he wants to play for LAL then why can't we just sign him in the off season and keep our assets. We can sign 2 superstars to max deals next season with the cap increase.

It will be easier to keep or sign DMC with Ingram and Lonzo Ball ( our top 3 pick ) on the roster.

It's pretty clear you know nothing about contracts and cap space, you only see stars names and must have them.
