I think it’s completely reasonable to say that simmons probably will never reach superstar status.

Crazy that some people thought he’d be a better player than Tatum

Agreed carn

I think its reasonable at this point to say that Simmons has been wildly overrated for some time now

Why would believing Simmons is a better player than Tatum be crazy until now? Everyone has had him ahead, until maybe now when Simmons dropped off as a scorer worse than ever. To this point in their careers, Simmons has been better and is more accomplished. ROY, 2x All-Star appearances, 1x All-Defense 1st team and an All-NBA 3rd team selection in his first 3 seasons. Tatum with 1x All-Star and 1x All-NBA selection in his first 3 seasons.

Simmons lack of scoring so far this season, or just general lack of aggressiveness even looking to score is a concern. Tatum is snapping this season. Simmons should be averaging 17+ PPG this season and somehow he's averaging single digit shot attempts per game (a career low). Still elite everywhere else, and top 5 in the league in assists though.

In what was was he overrated before this season?

First 3 seasons:
Rookie of the Year
2x All-Star
1x All-Defense 1st team
1x All-NBA 3rd team

All by the age of 23.

This season? Sure, I'll even say I'm disappointed as he somehow regressed in scoring. He's putting up big time rebound and assist numbers, but we already knew he was elite in those areas as well as defense we want to see him become a more aggressive scorer 😫

you had analysts saying Simmons was top 10 All-NBA two years ago, which was absurd then and it is now

dont you remember "Simmons is a jump shot away from being LeBron James 2.0"

I never had Simmons in my top 10, I said top 15 which is where he has been ranked by pretty much every reputable site in the off-season. I mean he made an All-NBA team, that is a pretty big deal considering only 15 players make that.

I said he'd elevate his game to be top 10, which at this point he hasn't reached unfortunately. If he had a reliable jumper he'd be a top 10 player without question lol, but that's not looking realistic considering he's not progressing his jumper at all to this point. And with his regression as a scorer in general and attempting fewer field goals per game than ever before its not good right now.

Simmons is an incredibley valuable piece to the Sixers as long as everyone around him is healthy. He distributes, rebounds, and defends as well as the best in the league. He clearly can't be relied on to be a scorer right now 🙄

In other news, Shake Milton is absolutely balling out. Averaging 26 PPG over his last 4 games on like 65% FG.

Sixers 9-2 with Embiid this season

0-3 when he's out
