The official report is from IndyStar which requires a subscription. It was posted on RealGM Boston Celtics forum and stated that Ainge did in fact go back to renegotiate the Hayward deal to Indy with Turner as the center piece.

Ainge wasnt going to trade with Indy unless Warren or Dipo were included
Maybe he wasnt willing to add Smart or something initially and later decided he would have....we dont really know

When would he decline and then hit them up again? Because Hayward would just sign the moment the 2 sides could not come to terms

Already said I wanted Turner over nothing but lets see what they add for this year or next with the TPE before I judge Ainge

Honestly the best and most realistic targets before that TPE expires would include Dipo, Josh Richardson, PJ Tucker, and DeMar DeRozan in the upcoming 2021 FA

edit: But no, it appears he does not. He's probably looking to pursue a coaching career and figures it's better to get this position added to the resume rather than sitting on the bench on a vet minimum getting no playing time.
