The idea of Doc is growing on me. I'm good with it.
A concern, however, would be that the team he just lost with was by far a better team than the Sixers, with two better stars than Ben and Joel. A stronger overall roster from top to bottom than the Sixers, and couldn't win. Even though he'll be in the East, this worries me.
Still hoping for the best if it's him. At this point I'd prefer him over the other candidates
Two stars that are much, much older than Joel and Ben though.
PG and Kawhi are both 30ish and in their prime with almost 1200 NBA games played between them in their careers (not even counting playoffs). Embiid and Simmons are 26 and 24 and just beginning to scratch that level of their prime, with only 400 NBA games played between the two of them.
Embiid and Simmons equal or even surpass Kawhi and PG in terms of talent and potential, they just aren't as established and accomplished obviously.
Difference is that while Embiid and Simmons definitely have egos and aren't exactly the most easy going stars, they're still moldable and influenced easier than guys that are much farther along in their career who have played under many different coaches. Remember that Joel and Ben have never had another head coach in the NBA besides BB. They'll be very open to hearing from a proven championship caliber coach like Rivers. We've never seen what these guys can do under a proven head coach, because Brett was anything but proven as a head coach...
Apparently Rivers lost the team in LA when the vote to end the season came out during the bubble due to the social issues, and Rivers apparently had to convince them to play.
