Shake is a great shooter but has to get stronger, very crafty with his handles but way too finesse and can't handle physical defense because he's 6'6" but built like a high school JV player. I'm sure that's a top priority for him this off-season though. He can play as a 2 guard though off the ball because of his ability to consistently hit 3's at a 40%+ clip.
Jrue has been playing the 2 for years now in New Orleans. Like you said, a combo guard in todays positionless league but he hasn't been the full time PG really as he has been playing next to Rondo and Lonzo the last couple of years. With Simmons though he could definitely share ball handling duties and be comfortable no doubt.
But again, he wouldn't solve the shooting issues. Jrue's game is a lot of attacking and playmaking, but he's average at best as an outside shooter. So there would still be concerns with spacing.
Defensively, we would lose two REALLY good defenders if we gave up Thybulle and JRich. While Jrue is better defensively than both of them, the jump isn't all that big (and Thybulle obviously has DPOY type potential). Richardson is a really good defender, not on Jrue's level but he's been a fringe all-defense caliber player in Miami. The defensive game plan in the playoffs with Embiid just hanging back on every Kemba Walker P&R was poison though, left Richardson on an island every play to get obliterated by screens on his own leaving Kemba open for clean looks every play.
There's a huge difference in them defensively.
Kevin Durant straight up said he's the best defender in the NBA on JJ Redick's podcast last week or so and got snubbed off defensive teams cuz the pelicans are always bad.
Thybulle may get there one day but he's not a great defender yet. Still gets beat off the dribble way too much and commits way too many fouls.
Jrue fights through screens and sticks like glue. Always see him defending big ass dudes trying to post him up and brick wall them too
