also, JRich lack of playmaking was a big surprise considering he was pretty good in that area in Miami. He ran PG a LOT in Miami and had a lot of success leading the Heat to the playoffs and a winning record as the #1 option.

It's almost like his true potential wasn't utilized playing in Philly under BB....shocker

If I were a 76ers fan I'd feel better talking about their potential hire of Mike D'Antoni than I would that INT machine Carson Wentz. Sorry! I know I don't have much room to talk when my NFL team may be 0-2 after today. But a lot of teams would be 0-2 facing the Chiefs and Ravens in back-to-back weeks. Maybe we'll see a nice upset today!

Well said on all fronts Ryan. Not sure Pringles is the right man for the job. His "fuck defense" attitude doesn't seem to mess with Simmons and Embiid. Maybe he will be able to spark some offense though.

He just can't go to an all small ball lineup which will lose the rebounding battle most games. He did really well when he had length and size two years ago on a 65-17 Rockets team. He had Clint Capela at center who was a rebounding machine and Trevor Ariza who was a lengthy wing defender. He has some great defensive players already on the 76ers. All he really needs to succeed on the 76ers is a strong minded assistant coach who can cover the defense for him.

Shake is a great shooter but has to get stronger, very crafty with his handles but way too finesse and can't handle physical defense because he's 6'6" but built like a high school JV player. I'm sure that's a top priority for him this off-season though. He can play as a 2 guard though off the ball because of his ability to consistently hit 3's at a 40%+ clip.

Jrue has been playing the 2 for years now in New Orleans. Like you said, a combo guard in todays positionless league but he hasn't been the full time PG really as he has been playing next to Rondo and Lonzo the last couple of years. With Simmons though he could definitely share ball handling duties and be comfortable no doubt.

But again, he wouldn't solve the shooting issues. Jrue's game is a lot of attacking and playmaking, but he's average at best as an outside shooter. So there would still be concerns with spacing.

Defensively, we would lose two REALLY good defenders if we gave up Thybulle and JRich. While Jrue is better defensively than both of them, the jump isn't all that big (and Thybulle obviously has DPOY type potential). Richardson is a really good defender, not on Jrue's level but he's been a fringe all-defense caliber player in Miami. The defensive game plan in the playoffs with Embiid just hanging back on every Kemba Walker P&R was poison though, left Richardson on an island every play to get obliterated by screens on his own leaving Kemba open for clean looks every play.

There's a huge difference in them defensively.

Kevin Durant straight up said he's the best defender in the NBA on JJ Redick's podcast last week or so and got snubbed off defensive teams cuz the pelicans are always bad.

Thybulle may get there one day but he's not a great defender yet. Still gets beat off the dribble way too much and commits way too many fouls.

Jrue fights through screens and sticks like glue. Always see him defending big ass dudes trying to post him up and brick wall them too

Defense at the guard position isn't this teams big weakness though. Its not like Richardson isn't a good defender.

Simmons and JRich is a great defensive duo. Richardson is one of the best in the league at defending opposing PG's and defending the P&R, even if he wasn't utilized correctly under BB his elite level defense in those areas in Miami proved he has it. Anyone that watched him in Miami saw how great he was at locking up point guards and 2's as well. I think under a new HC we could see Richardson utilized and produce at a higher level.

I'll be the first person to brag about Jrue's defense, which I think is the best of any guard in the league. While that would be an upgrade, its his playmaking and ball handling that would be much needed and where we would see the big impact. Either way, I'd gladly welcome this trade because Jrue is my boy and all but I don't know how the spacing issue would be resolved.

I’m hearing one of the reasons along with coaching that Sixers have a lot of interest in Mike D’Antoni is feeling with some in organization that he could help lure James Harden to Philly

Harden can become a free agent in 2 years and there is possibility of trade

Take care of James Harden if he ends up going to Philadelphia with Mike D'Antoni.
If the Rockets start to rebuild we may as well hire Becky Hammon as head coach.
Sam Cassell would also interest me. I wouldn't want a veteran leading a rebuild.

Daryl Morey was drooling over Ben Simmons not too long ago. James Harden is at $41M next year. You'd have to add more salary to Simmons' $30M salary next season for a successful trade to be worked out. Not too hard to add an extra $11M in salary via trade though. But Ben Simmons is also seven years younger than Harden. So we'd have to throw in future first-round picks or more cheap talent which we lack at the moment. Interesting thought for sure.

You're going to have to break up the Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons duo to land James Harden. I don't see it any other way.

Would it be Joel Embiid the Rockets end up with though? We have crap for a center right now. I love Simmons more to be honest with you. But if Embiid came to Houston then Hakeem Olajuwon can train him almost every day. In terms of size, quickness and foot work I think Embiid has a lot of Olajuwon in him already if he can ever stay healthy and hungry.

Maybe Embiid is more logical because D'Antoni likes to play small ball with shooters. He's only five year younger than James Harden. Hmm...

I just don't see a James Harden trade happening right now. We're more likely to trade Russell Westbrook. I'm all for big changes though.

The idea of trading Simmons for Harden should never cross your mind.

Just burn that idea and throw it away.
