He, along with Andrew Nicholson (4yr/$24m), was our consolation prize after not getting Durant or Horford.

Grunfeld was dead-set on spending money that offseason, and he didn't care who it was on. Many teams made similar mistakes that offseason.

Grunfeld should have been fired after that season. Put all his chips down on the Durant sweepstakes and couldn't even get a courtesy interview lol. Then he whiffed on Horford. Then he signed a bunch of scrubs to horrible contracts that hamstrung our ability to fill roster holes for the next ~4 years (because he had to trade a first-rounder to get rid of Nicholson). And he signed a bad HC in Brooks to the biggest HC contract of all time, so we got stuck with that too, all to lure Durant.

I don't think there is a GM as consistently terrible as Grunfeld in all of professional sports, but I don't follow soccer so maybe there's someone worse.

Soccer gms dont really do anything special or play a role imo. Theres no salary cap so its whichever team is owned by a billionaire willing to spend the absurd buyout from teams.
