REDDING, Calif. -
Redding police said an 18-year-old and 16-year-old were playing Pokémon Go early Friday morning when one of them was stabbed and the other one was robbed.
Officials said officers responded to Mercy Medical Center around 3:00 a.m. Friday on a report of a past-tense robbery.
Police contacted Zacaryia Bradshaw, 18, of Redding, and a 16-year-old girl who told police they were playing Pokemon Go in the area of Kid's Kingdom around 2:00 a.m. when they were confronted by 7 suspects in the park.
Bradshaw and the 16-year-old girl described the suspects as 3 females and 4 males, all of which appeared to be in their 20's. Police said the only additional description of the suspects was that they appeared to be transients.
According to Bradshaw and the 16-year-old girl, the suspects demanded the 16-year-old girls purse and Bradshaw's wallet. The 16-year-old girl refused to give up her purse and was stabbed in the arm by one of the female suspects.
Police said the 16-year-old girl received non-life threatening injuries and was treated at Mercy Medical Center.
Police added during the incident, Bradshaw attempted to intervene and was struck in the neck with a piece of PVC pipe. Bradshaw's wallet was taken by one of the suspects.
Redding police said this investigation is currently on-going and anyone with further information is encouraged to contact the Redding Police Department at 530-225-4200.
