Bogut allowed 2.9 makes on 6.4 shot contests per game, holding opponents to 45.2% when contesting shots.
Zaza allowed 3.8 makes on 7.3 shot contests per game, holding opponents to 52.2% when contesting shots.
Zaza averaged 1 more defensive rebound per game than Bogut.
Zaza should get more help from Draymond's switching defense, which is arguably the best in the league. Dray is always coming over to help contest shots at the rim.
well, I have seen Zaza a year. and he is the polar opposite of Bogut/Festus in terms of rim protection. his defense is being smart, high bb iq, moving his feet well and pure hustle. for instance vs. the Clippers, Dirk guarded Deandre, and Zaza guarded Griffin.
Its certainly a risk, going without any pure rim protector into the season. I would certainly try to add a rim protector, if possible. Against the Cavs its crucial to have rim protection, and Zaza (despite being a great pickup for that $, if you compare it to Mozgov $

) doesn't really offer that.
Zaza should flourish on offense tho, due to his passing and iq. its similar to Bogut. he has great vision and can actually pass very well.
he isn't a alley opp thread neither. last year Zaza made a total of 3 alley oops (usually a mavs staple) and 15 dunks. last year Bogut made a total of 66 alley oops and 80 dunks.
