He’s for sure having a better season than Maxey who has been extremely underwhelming. Maybe the most disappointing player in the league so far this season. PP is not a "good" defender bruh. Chippy, scrappy, whatever you wanna call him....his defense by literally every metric imaginable is not good lol. He's 6'1" and small, he gets beat because of a lack of size. Same as Maxey. Maxey has a better defensive rating, better EDPM, more defensive win shares, and holds his opponents to a lower % as the primary defender. Yet you dont hear me out here calling him All-Defense rofl.
Offensively, PP looks great. But stop talking about his defense like it's worth mentioning. You just sound silly doing that.
Also, by all metrics PP is NOT better than Maxey this season. He has been A more efficient shooter, on much lower volume, in much more simplified role shooting open threes (82% of his threes are assisted on). Maxey ranks 23rd in the NBA in EPM this season. PP ranks 43rd. Maxey is ahead in player impact rating as well as every other fucking stat you can pull out. The only thing PP is doing is shooting better but again, hes nowhere near the caliber player or role as the engine to his teams offense so this is a silly comparison. Maxey is having like his worst season and PP is playing out of his mind having a career year and Maxey is still better. So just stop lol. This is insane to even have this convo tbh.
