in game theory there's "playing to win" and "playing not to lose" if the 76ers are in a position where they could feasibly be Champions, then the time to push their chips in is now
the Raptors weren't the best team on paper when they won, the Bucks weren't the best team on paper when they won either
I think if Philly management is reluctant to make an all-in move, that signals they don't have much faith in being Champions EVEN IF everything breaks their way
76ers current management knows this team has a history of previous management messing things up (Colangelo). Morey isn't going to make that same mistake. He's patient, and is willing to wait things out as we've all seen with both Ben Simmons and James Harden.
With that said, I do believe it's obvious that Morey has something planned. He has a strategy here now with actual draft capital available. Just a matter of when a player they're after becomes available and if he cashes in. It may or may not be this trade deadline. I think they'll make a move though even if it's just a smaller one.
