Now simmons is being compared to Lebron.

This is why we can never take or have a serious convo about the team

Simmons can't play defense to save his life and cannot play without the ball.

The dude is no where near lebrons caliber

Play style. Point towards. I don't think skill wise Simmons is there. His ceiling might be but I've mentioned many times how Simmons has A LOT of improving to do before he is even a deserving star.

Simmons seemed lazy at LSU. Part of the reason I am not a big fan. Hopefully the effort steps up on that end. If you are comparing lebron and Simmons though... lebron isn't a great defender either. Very overrated defensively.

Anyone who says Simmons is in the same caliber is dumb.

lmao wat? Dude you're so off on everything you've said about Simmons...scouts raved about his All-Defense potential on that side of the ball..

David Thorpe wrote up a good article on Simmons a little while back...

Two things jump off the screen when studying Simmons on defense: his incredibly quick hands and his equally impressive lateral foot speed. Simmons finished 32nd in the country in steals per game, and was No. 1 of any player taller than 6-5. His hand speed and overall hand-eye coordination give him an excellent weapon to defend drivers or big men who are not strong with the ball.
Simmons is very nimble and fluid when moving on defense, which hints at great potential on that end at the next level. As the league shifts to more switching on the perimeter, he will be one of the elite few who can not only "hold his own" in space against smaller players, but even excel when isolated -- a potential "defensive player of the year" talent.

And the only ones comparing him to LeBron is his scouting report, like nbadraft.net who has his NBA comparison as LeBron James. He has a number of LeBron type tributes (like his passing and court vision), but he's not quite the same level of athlete as LeBron obviously.

I've said since day 1 that he's NOT "the next LeBron" and that's not a fair bar to set. His ceiling is very high, but setting it as high as the GOAT is stupid when he hasn't played yet rofl.

You obviously didn't watch him play if you think he can play defense

Yes, scouts and professionals who make a living studying these players are wrong and TarHeels on d2jsp is right.

IIRC, the knock on him was he tended to slack off on the defensive end. Didn't give max effort

e: but has all the physical tools and has shown flashes of great defense

Haven't you told us every first round pick you guys have over the last 7 years was going to be the next big super star?

The biggest JSP scout by far is you pal. Tell us again about how Jrue and MCW are top 5.

ET was the second coming of god.

Jrue turned out to be an All-Star bruh...you really want to bring him up after so many of you doubted him?

The same MCW we traded to get the Lakers pick...which is now turning into Fultz #1 overall

Jrue was selected 17th overall, MCW was selected 11th overall...neither of those guys were #1 picks projected as possible NBA superstars like Simmons. Turner was a bust at #2 overall, but we're past that now at least.

Simmons and Embiid are far and away easily the highest touted prospects that the Sixers have drafted since Iverson. Without question. Especially considering that they had not had a top 10 pick besides Turner and Iggy for like a 15 year span until they picked Embiid #3 overall in 2014.

So you draft 100 people in 5 years and 3 guys worked out.

So every bandwagon pick you hyped up and tried to deep throat gets a pass?

You have zero college basketball knowledge and should seriously stop blowing players until they step on a NBA court.
