What assets can the Lakers even give up to get off of Westbrooks contract?

I imagine a team like the Thunder would play hardball and ask for at least 2 first round picks (or equivalent in swaps and 2nds mixed in)

I cant see any team with a GM dumb enough or desperate enough to take on WB that is a good deal for the Lakers

Good thing I don't have to figure that out

If the Cavs are willing to deal a good prospect for LeBron… from a basketball standpoint idk how you could say no. From a moneymaking perspective it’s understandable that the Lakers wouldn’t want to trade LeBron, then again if LeBron wants out I’m sure they would rather cooperate

Let’s say the Thunder are willing to absorb Westbrook, what can the Lakers even do to make it worth their effort?

Austin Reaves, next years pick if it doesnt go to the Pelicans, and/or whichever pick the Pelicans dont take out of 2024 and 2025. Thunder can flip Reaves immediately to a contender or see what they have and try to retain via RFA rights.

Man that’s brutal. This team is going to be a wasteland for the remainder of this decade I think, good riddance

Doubt the thunder touch Westbrook

He would stunt all the development on their young players like Giddey, Dort and SGA

When in doubt, ask the Knicks

What about RJ tho? That’s their only bright spot. Doubt the Knicks want Westbrook even with his name recognition.

I think the Lakers are married to Westbrook next year.

Probably but you can’t discount the possibility if the price were right. They could just absorb his salary and delegate him to the bench

Lmao it would be sweet if for once the Lakers had to lay in the bed they made for themselves. No picks, no young prospects, no cap room… any other team in the league would be dumpstered for several years
