I think from his playstyle, injury history and lifestyle choices off-the-court, it's the Piston's fault for giving him that length of contract more than Blake screwing the franchise. He was always going to be a max 10-13 years in the league type of player.

Athletic freak, yes. But he had relatively short arms for NBA standards so it's not like he was just relying on freak athleticism and size.
