The goal for any team is to win a championship, with any move they make. Every team wants to win a championship, so saying "championship or bust" goes for ANY TEAM if that's the case, right?


"The Process" was simple: Give the team as much opportunity as possible to draft franchise players in a star driven league and have as many trade assets as possible to make necessary and have flexibility. Period. That worked, whether the GM's that followed made horrible picks or moves is irrelevant because Hinkie did his job (even if his term was cut short). That's what Hinkie clearly stated in every statement he made, including his resignation letter. You can't call this "the process" now though years later with 4 different GM's since then and a bunch of fucked up moves by GM's who are no longer here. The NBA cut Hinkie out of the picture because what he was doing was working, and it was bad for the league, hence why they changed the draft rules because of him.

Simply put "The Process" worked and it worked well, enough to make the league to change their rules because of it. What has not worked is the coaching and GM's that followed.

The 76ers tanked so hard the league had to step in, all so they could draft Ben Simmons, Markelle Fultz & Jahlil Okafor & get bounced in the 2nd round

Don't lump Simmons in the same group as Fultz and Okafor, that's fucked up lol.

Fuck Simmons right now, etc, and he's getting traded this off-season, but with that said he's a 3x All-Star, All-NBA 3rd team, and 2x All-Defensive 1st team selection all in his first 4 seasons by the age of 24. Okafor and Fultz aren't shit and will never be shit so fuck them even more (especially Fultz).

The process worked very well.

But they just failed at execution when only 1 out of their 4 picks were any good

simmons - trash
okafor - trash
fultz - trash
embiid - amazing

instead of simmons they could have picked:
Brandon Ingram
Jaylen Brown
Jamal Murray

Instead of Okafor they could have picked:
Porzingis
Devin Booker
Kelly Oubre
Terry Rozier

Instead of Markelle Fultz they could have picked:
Jayson Tatum
De'Aaron Fox
Lauri markannen
Donovan Mitchell
Bam Adebayo


Have they hit on 1 or 2 more of their picks outside of Embiid, this would be a totally different conversation

Or if they would have traded Simmons a couple years ago, which i suggested to my friends that are 76ers friends, they could have gotten a great return. Failure to make a decision, specifically around Ben simmons, cost them their future. Now, they are going to have to add to the pot to move simmons.But i cant think of any team that would take him, that would have anything of value to give back to the 76ers.

There isnt any path forward now unfortutantly.

Hindsight is 20/20 ofc but w how bad those players ended up being and how much better the other choices woulda been..... it's like god hates 76ers fans

Anyone with a brain would rather Brandon Ingram or Jaylen Brown or Jamal Murray over Ben Simmons. Especailly given the fit with Embiid.
