Kyrie is the Kanye of the NBA
I think Kyrie is saying that he likes the presence of Nash and that Nash will be more of a peer than a coach, and that's what he thinks the team needs. No?
That's actually not as bad as it seems. But it is bad. Sometimes it's best to just let players play. But ... well, this team NEEDS a system in my opinion. It has a few very talented players and they might actually do better than some other teams without really being coached, but I don't think they have quite enough talent or basketball IQ to win without serious strategies. And I think Nash may be someone who can work with a staff and a team to make that happen.
Kyrie is in my view one of those super talented guys who would destroy most guards in street ball. But in the league, as much as it's exciting to watch him do his own thing, he's not smart enough to carry a team. You can't just ball and expect to win in the NBA. Guys like Lebron and Kawhi could get away with it if they have talent around them, but even so, they study the game and they thrive in systems because they're smart players who know how to take advantage of situations.
I like Kyrie's sentiment but it's not realistic. And I doubt Nash will be like, "Hey guys, just show up and try to score more points than the other guys".
