I'd take Giannis due to Leonard's injury history.

Tough

Prob giannis though. Kid is a freak of nature with a ceiling so high you would need a plane to find it. Kiwi is without a doubt future hofer, but he developed in pops system, which obviously, most players would flourish in. Imagine if giannis was on the spurs and had pop develop him? Yikes.

I don't normally have anything positive to say about Kidd, but he has given great insights to Giannis from a PG perspective. I absolutely agree that Pop is the superior coach, but he probably wouldn't have utilized Giannis as a point forward

Would Kawhi be the player he is today if he got drafted into a different situation?

Defensively yes, offensively no. You can tell his scoring isn't given by nature.

It depends.

I think Giannis is an absolute freak and last year he did some really scary stuff. If someone could guarantee me that he would start shooting 37-38% from 3, I'd seal the deal and take him over Kawhi. I agree that Kidd has been a great influence on his game thus far. He may spill his drink to buy a time out from time to time ... but he can legitimately coach :P

As it stands, Kawhi is arguably the best player in the world (Lebron, Russ, and KD are the other guys to consider, and maybe AD). He's a great shooter, he can handle the ball despite a lack of flash, he can drive recklessly, he rebounds well, he's a team player, he dominates games defensively, and he has flat-out outplayed Lebron a few times. He has the Pop advantage, but we could also explore how Pop really didn't give him a full green light until the season he got the MVP in the finals after making Lebron look average--when he was only 20 years old and still developing his game by leaps and bounds (literally, amirite?). I STILL think Kawhi hesitates most of the time. It's great that he's humble but he should just go after it more often. It's like when Lebron was younger and he'd play too soft too often. Lebron has really shifted to become more aggressive and it's been really fun to watch.

Here's the real problem. We don't actually know what Giannis will do yet. Most of us see what is possible but none of us have seen it all come together yet. Giannis is a hard worker.

You can always bet on right now to win. I'd take Kawhi but I don't see an objectively right answer. He's a much better player right now, and he hasn't reached his ceiling yet either.

Where else can Kawhi go? I think you're wrong. I think he's reached his ceiling. Which isn't a bad thing because as been said before he is playing at an MVP level.

I think you put the Greek freak on the Spurs and he's more Kevin Durant with a vicious 3. And Kawhi on the Bucks wouldn't be nearly the stud he is now.

I think Kawhi can become more aggressive. People were asking what Lebron could do to get better when he started shooting better and my answer was the same thing, and that's exactly what Lebron did to elevate his game. Kawhi feels the green light more closely now, but I don't see him going all out very often. That's where his game can get better.

At some point, we'll find out how good Giannis will be. If he stays in the lane he's in now and if his shot doesn't improve significantly, I don't think he will get better than Kawhi. He does have an edge on Kawhi: I think he works harder in games (relative to stage of career), and I think he's more aggressive. If Giannis improves his shot and keeps improving his overall game and presence as well as his strength, he's going to be the MVP, period.

I don't completely trust that Giannis will get where we think he can go. He's so raw and he's made so many improvements but it's also very hard to consistently develop your game in the way it needs to develop. Demar Derozan and Kawhi Leonard are great examples of guys who got better every year. Lebron, too, with the exception of 1 or two seasons where I felt he went back a bit. The great ones all do that. They mostly go uphill. Giannis is still near his base and it's exciting because if he gets to the top, he's going to do very bad things to his opponents every night.
