I think that's the point, nobody knows yet. But new CBA rules make it much harder to keep as many max players together. It will create an environment where there is a lot more movement. It's a great position to be in.

Not long ago this team was strapped with trash contracts. Now they're free as can be with an open slate and Morey finally gets to build HIS team around HIS coach.

If all works out this season with Hield, which so far it looks like it will, I would assume they re-sign him. Then of course Maxey will get his max this summer, after they've signed all others by design, since they have bird rights with him they can go over the cap to re-sign him (the reason why they didn't max him last offseason). Maxey waiting to sign that big deal helps the team tremendously.



Is it really a Morey built team, when he’s just putting random pieces around Embiid, a player he didn’t even draft?

Hield isn't a random piece though. They've been going after him for years. Hield even said it himself, he had been hearing about landing in Philly basically his entire career.

But yeah it's still a Morey built team. A move he made. He didn't bring Doc Rivers in, or Ben Simmons, or give Tobias that contract. After Tobias is gone it'll be an actual roster built by Morey.

Except the actual cornerstone of your roster (Embiid) wasn’t drafted by Morey

All his doing is putting pieces around Embiid. That isn’t really building a roster from the ground up.

Well Embiid is the obvious centerpiece lol. No chance he'd want to move him right now. He did draft the other All-Star on the team though already within 2 years of taking on the role.

But Morey is building the proper team around him, including a head coach who isn't a complete moron. He got into office and inherited a shitty situation. He moved a disgruntled Ben Simmons (who was holding out), got rid of Horford on an awful contract, took on this Tobias contract, took on Doc Rivers, etc. All in all he has done great work, can't deny that. They're in a good spot with flexibility.

best award of them all. if Barkley and Malone couldn't ever win it, I don't see how Embiid does unless he team hops or attracts a team hopper

he'll also need the Kawhi treatment getting his butt powdered all season long to be fresh for the playoffs
