Celtics defensive rating taking a dip this year for sure. Loss of Smart and further decline of Horford will be felt

Lost their two toughest and most physical guys. Marcus Smart and Grant Williams. Replaced em with Porzingis who is regarded as anything but physical or tough.

I think those losses will have a much bigger impact than Celtics fans like to admit. They have plenty of talent, but toughness (both mentally and physically) is yet to be seen. Smart and Williams were relied on often to be bullies when needed.

Don’t be surprised to see Tatum go past Giannis this season. The gap is already pretty close, and we’ve already seen the best from Giannis, Tatum on the other hand still has improvement left in him. Times ticked by on Giannis ever having a reliable 3 point shot.

He’s better than Embiid because he’s far more durable and he performs higher when it matters, especially head-to-head. Embiid is the better player when he’s actually healthy, but he sits so often that it drops his value.

Luka, Zion, Ant, Wemby lawl funny stuff. Maybe in 5 years time Wemby might be an issue.

In saying all that, Jokic is probably winning the next 3+ mvp’s let’s be honest.

Derrick White went past Smart last season as a defensive player, more minutes for him is a good thing. Horford is definitely ageing and will decline both defensively and offensively, but Kristaps replaces his rim protection, and HOPEFULLY Rob is more healthy next season, who is the key to our defense.

Tatum coasted last season defensively but we seen how dominant Tatum was defensively in the playoffs. He needs to bring that same intensity every game. He definitely has the potential to be in an all defensive team.

This fucking cunt has never said a SINGLE positive word about Smart and Grant Williams, but now they’re gone their apparently the greatest things since sliced bread.

Smart and Williams were their tough nose defenders who played physical and were scrappy.

The Celtics will have to find a new identity with those guys gone, thats no secret even the Celtics beat writers are saying it lol. Doesn't mean it won't work, but it's yet to be seen how they respond to losing a leader like Smart even if White could be an upgrade numbers wise (and should be). White isn't going to be the one yelling and leading, he's too quiet for all that and has never been known for being a vocal floor general.

Horford and Rob absolutely bang on defense. They are brick walls. Tatum and JB are 2 of the best 2 way players in the league. We’ve spoken about White. Kristaps might be soft, but he can protect the rim, that much is known.

Literally the only negative defender on our roster is Pritchard. Even Hauser constantly surprises everyone.

We are still one of, if not the best defensive team in the league. Top 5 at an absolute minimum… and we’ve improved out of sight offensively.
