Serious question

I keep seeing all these things with a list of players than cannot be traded for Durant because Ben Simmons is on the nets.

Can someone explain this to me?

Like is that a joke or is there a legit reason why durant cant be traded because of Simmons

The NBA prohibits teams from trading for two players who have signed Designated Rookie extensions

The rule means the Nets can't acquire 13 players in a possible trade for Kevin Durant because they have Ben Simmons, who is on a Designated Rookie extension.

UPDATE: I’m hearing from a source that close to Adrian Wojnarowski there is an “80% chance” Kevin Durant is headed to Toronto via trade. It is also likely Mitchell is on the move with a possibility he ends up in Brooklyn on a multi-team trade. Tons of significant assets in the deal, but it’s to be determined.
