Will the Sixers re-sign Harden after this season? Joon Lee believes the 76ers lost the James Harden trade and could see him not receiving the contract extension.

Man spitting facts

Harden is still good - but he's no longer a top 10-top15 player.... and signing him to a supermax at 32 would be a bad investment

He gone

Athleticism is gone
Always been a poor defender
Effort is only there half the time
Ball Dominant
Inefficient chucker

Basically he moves the ball well and flails for FTs now

Why you talking about DeRozan in a Harden thread?

I'll just repeat the same thing that i said in the other thread...

76ers are 12-6 with Harden, playing at a .666 win % (would be good for 3rd best record in the NBA). Harden is averaging 22/10/8 with a 61% True Shooting percentage since joining the Sixers, and is +125 in those 18 games. He's #2 in the NBA in assists per game this season (10.1), only behind Chris Paul (10.7).

You have to look at it like this....the Sixers don't need him to be Houston James Harden. He's a #2 now, and shit with the way Maxey is ballin and shooting the ball this season (43% - 3rd best in the NBA) Harden can step back and we're seeing him just run point and rack up crazy assists while distributing to other scorers like Embiid, Maxey, and Tobias. Both Maxey and Tobias are shooting the ball VERY well and well above their season averages since Harden joined the team, he simply made both of them more efficient with cleaner looks and there's no doubt about that.

Harden is averaging just 13.6 FGA per game with the 76ers, but he's getting to the line a ton which is an excellent indicator that he's still causing major issues for the defense. Even if his raw FG% leaves much to be desired, his PPS (1.6) is fine and his 61% TS is also good. He's making other guys around him better by drawing attention and putting pressure on the defense from all levels, which is something this team never had before with their previous bitch ass point guard.

Harden is shooting 10% worse overall than DeRozan
2% worse from 3pt
same FT %
Much higher E FG%/TS%

DeRozan has a much higher PER and way more WS

And he's still a defensive liability and his effort is suspect.

Is that worth a supermax to you?

Not even DM would homer Harden hard enough to justify a supermax
He's just defending Harden, who has scored way less but overall been as efficient as he is, with all the FTs.

DeRozan's TS% = 59%

Harden's TS% = 60.8%

WHY YOU LYING TO THE PEOPLE?

Oh and...

DeRozan = 1.38 points per shot attempt

Harden = 1.58 points per shot attempt

He's not a defensive liability though, he's just not a strong defender now overall. He's outstanding defensively in the post though, because he's a big guard who has a strong base and can prevent guys from backing him down. He's has elite hand speed so his steals and deflections are always up.

Funny part is that just two years ago he led the league in deflections and post defense, was 2nd in the league in steals, 1st among guards in steals and 5th among guards in blocks, and received All-Defensive First Team votes. The whole narrative that he's some absolutely awful defender is so bogus

Compared to Seth Curry, who he replaced on the team this year, he's a defensive upgrade that much is for sure.
