If I'm Detroit this is an absolute steal... I take that offer

Depends on how you value Cade. Reasons for turning it down make a lot of sense, we would have to offer SGA a sizable contract to keep him after next season, we have the funds to do so but that would severely limit our ability to add other pieces to become a contender. The #6 pick is probably the kicker, if it’s the 3 or 4 Detroit probably takes this. Most analysts see a significant drop off in talent after the 4th pick. Cade might be as good as SGA by year 2 or 3 and he’d still be on a rookie deal

I like Kuminga and Barnes still though, this trade is interesting for sure

Hardly a steal, not if you buy into the Cunningham potential. SGA is a great young player don't get me wrong, but his ceiling is not that of Cunningham. And as it was already mention above by Izzo, the #6 pick is not as sweet as a top 4 pick as there's a dropoff.

Mike Schmitz (who is one of the more sensible draft "experts") said that Cunningham is the most polished draft prospect he has ever evaluated outside of Luka. I don't like that Cunningham is getting so many Luka comparisons, but it makes sense. nbadraft.net has his NBA player comparison as Tatum and Luka.

If I'm Detroit i'm not accepting this. I'd rather take my chances on Cunningham becoming a guy that can elevate your team well beyond treadmill status rather than take SGA and have to give him that big contract coming up and hope he's worth building around.

I prefer the cap space and extra years of control

No way Pistons do this

A steal if you're trying to make the team better this season but not a good long term decision.

I'd rather have cade and his potential. Yeah sga is great, and will probably be a perrenial all-star but cade has a ceiling that sga doesnt have.
Seems like everybody outside of detorit wants us to trade the pick, we need to be smart and just take cade, he is what the team needs. If he can ball out with bey, stewart, and hayes, add in Grant if he stays and we have the makings of a really solid young core.

Yeah idk why anyone in Detroit would want to trade that pick.

Draft Cunningham and get your franchise player.

The majority of the buzz from the fans is that we want Cade, weaver is just being coy about whether or not he’s committed to that, which as a GM is probably the right approach, but as a fan it makes me nervous

I’m low on Cade. I think at best he turns into SGA and then I really think Green or Giddey still being there at 6 makes this an absolute no brainer
