Didn't know this until I tuned in but apparently 4pm games in STL create a pitcher-friendly shadow for the first 2 innings where the batters have trouble seeing the ball. Announcers mentioned Goldschmidt never swings and misses and yet he swung and missed on 2 balls in his first AB.
Certainly helps when you have Scherzer/Wainwright but yeah, sun ftw.
