can someone explain why Bryant doesn't go for the runner going home instead of throwing to 1st? when Bryant gets the ball the runner is only about 1/3rd of the way home

going home would be a double play as well, its just a shorter throw

no double play if he throws home. better play was to just get the out at home, but he hasnt been playing lately and went for the highlight play.
