Most believe Jose Altuve will win the AL MVP award due to his stellar season. But if we look at overall numbers, is he really that much of a front runner from Judge?

Altuve - .346 BA 24 HR 80 RBI .409 OBP .555 SLG .964 OPS 8.2 WAR
Judge - .281 BA 48 HR 105 RBI .416 OBP .610 SLG .1026 OPS 7.1 WAR

Both are having solid seasons defensively as well.

I don't know, I'd still give it to Altuve.

If Trout had been healthy all year, then who knows...

If Trout was healthy all year, he wins hands down.
Judge not even close to Altuve.

I'd even give it to Trout over Judge.

Trout: 107 GP = .310/.442/.616 86 R/29 HR/66 RBI/21 SB 6.1 fWAR / 178 wRC+
Judge: 148 GP and 164 wRC+

True on Trout, would have to disagree on Judge not even being close.

Definitely Altuve.

Forgot to add in his 32 stolen bases in 38 attempts.

Or Judge's league leading 201 strikeouts lol.

Yeah I agree Altuve still takes it, but I don't think it's a runaway...

Yes, he is striking out at an extremely high rate but looking back, 201 strikeouts rarely equates to a guy also hitting .281 with a .416 OBP. Not to mention he can still eclipse 50 home runs which is insane.

Trout is GOAT but, like others have said, have to give to Altuve.
