Seems smart to me. If you can't get over the hump with an expensive roster, then blow it up, tank, and rebuild.

Makes the Verlander and Cabrera extensions look kind of odd in retrospect, since they're already trying to sell them after only a couple seasons.

Verlander kinda makes sense.
Just regained all his value after a couple down years
