Chase was welcomed back to Philly for the first time since being traded, and to no surprise he received a hero's welcome that lasted several minutes.

Quote
People forget Utley's greatness. He lead the MLB in cumulative WAR from 2005 through 2014. That is an entire decade. Also, he would have beaten his own teammate Jimmy Rollins out for MVP in 2007 if he hadn’t spent some time on the DL that season. In his peak from 2005-2009 his average stat line was .301/.390/.535, 39 2B, 30 HR, 101 RBI. That is one of the most dominate 5 year periods of any second baseman ever. He supplemented this offense with Gold Glove defense, and a winning mentality. It is no coincidence that he is the active career leader in HBP.

Throw in his post season excellence too. The fact that his heart and hustle have been able to outshine his HOF worthy stat lines is a testament to the way he plays the game.

He is a Philadelphia legend, he is everything that Philadelphia is.

.....and then he went ahead and clubbed not one but TWO home runs tonight, one of them being a god damn grand slam. As the Dodgers absolutely raped the Phillies rofl. But people still cheered like all hell for Utley when he smacked those home runs.

they're also healthy.
almost our entire rotation is on the DL til like 2018.
as well as half our bullpen is on the DL, which includes both closer and setup man, and they also traded smith.

no pitching = no wins.

Blue collared guy who is dedicated to his craft, he pretty much is the perfect Philadelphia athlete people embraced him so much. Doesn't need to showboat, will say FUCK on live television on more than one occasion, will tell New Yorkers "boo? fuck you" during an All-Star game, etc.

Will forever miss the dominant Phillies infield with Rollins, Utley and Howard during their prime years.

Philly is pretty much the definition of a gritty, hard nosed, tough love, blue collared city.

You can let the national media portray whatever you want about how "mean" people can be, or how it's full of ruthless savages with no regard for human life, but anyone that has been here or lives here knows the passion and love for the sports teams is second to none.

I mean yes, much like NY the fans in Philly can be a little rough around the edges. You gotta have thick skin and a tough mentality to survive as an athlete in this city, there's no doubt about that. Otherwise you'll be eaten alive by the fans and especially the media lol.
