Nothing flashy or great: Too broke to red-bold because of poker.
It's a simple and straightforward baseball thread.
This thread is just like the Houston Astros: Always overlooked.
I don't care about the semantics of it all. I just want to win, baby.

The old Astros thread just didn't feel right anymore and was locked.
And plus it was made as a National League team. It was old and outdated.

As an American League team I always thought this was a new "DH era" that we're playing in.
The focus is on Houston Astros' pursuit of winning their first ever World Series championship.

The 2016 started off horrible. Off to a 7-17 month of April which buried them in the standings.
Since then the Astros have the third best record in all of baseball behind the Indians and Rangers.

At 43-37 the Astros are currently in that second wild-card spot in the American League.
They may soon be in the first wild-card spot. They're both the same to me, IMO.
It's still a one game playoff in the wild-card game. Home or road doesn't matter to me.

Anything can happen in one game. Last year the Astros had beaten the Yankee on the road in that wild-card game. Once you are in the postseason your regular-season record no longer matters. If you move on to the ALDS as the wild-card champion you are still playing with the big boys, aka the division champions.

This was a young and unproven Astros team which forced a full 5 games in the ALDS against the eventual 2015 World Series champion Royals in last year's postseason. They were the only team in the playoffs which gave the Royals all they could handle. The Astros had led by multiple runs in every game in that series. Even in the three games they had lost to the Royals they had leads of 6-2, 4-1 and 2-0. Only to blow them in heartbreaking fashion to the eventual champs.

I really felt like the experiences of last year sort of helped with the slow start this year.
The Houston Astros know what it takes to win even if they weren't showing it early on.
What hurts the most is the fact we've gone 1-9 against the Texans Rangers so far this year.

Jose Altuve is having an MVP caliber season. Carlos Correa is a special 21-year-old talent.
George Springer is an exciting spark: Our starting rotation and bullpen are pitching a lot better.

But today's game is going to be really tough to win.The Astros are facing Chris Sale (13-2, 2.79 ERA).
Doug Fister is having a nice season himself (8-4, 3.36 ERA). So maybe he'll force a pitcher's duel.

The Astros are 1-0 on this 10-game home stand right before the all-star break.
Hopefully we can finish strong and enter the all-star break owning the 1st wild-card spot.
I don't know if we'll be able to catch the Rangers in the AL West. Too far back at 8.5 games out.

It was nice to see rookie A.J. Reed collect his first Major League hit yesterday.
I have big expectations for him. Our first baseman of the future. He can also DH.
But in 17 at-bats into his big league career he's been struggling. Only that one hit (a single).

Go Astros! Let's discuss them again guys. They are a talented team that is fun to watch.
I may not post that often in here anymore but I'll try to stop by from time to time.
Blogging about sports on D2jsp is also something I used to do but you can't post photos or videos in blogs.
