14 team league, H2H
R/H/Hr/RBI/SB/AVG/OBP W/CG/SO/SV/K/ERA/WHIP

I easily have one of the two top teams. I am trying to make a move to really cement myself as #1, as the other guy who I consider to be 1a/1b with me has a pretty damn good team as well.
Heres my team:

C: Gattis
1b: Piscotty
2b: Carpenter
3b: Arenado
SS: Seager
OF: Springer
OF: JBJ
OF: Mazara
Util: Braun
Util: Trumbo
Bench: Maybin
DL: Choo

MadBum
Matz
Maeda
Teheran
Pomeranz
Velasquez
Fulmer
McHugh
Chapman
Familia
Dyson
Taillion

I think I can upgrade my pitching at the expense of some offense. Pretty sure I can pull off Braun+Velasquez for Arrieta. Braun puts up solid #s but is an injury risk and I feel as though Choo can put up similar #s once back. Velasquez is too up and down for me, walks too many batters driving up WHIP and innings cap will likely have him shutdown during the stretch run. Arrieta could really solidify my starters and has a good chance for some CG and SO's. With the 2 for 1 trade, could free up to stash someone like Bregman on offense or Reyes for pitching.

Real tempted to pull off the trade but at the same time, I'll be in first place next week and wonder if I should really be making any moves when not much is broken. If Braun were to be traded to a contender, his value would increase too. Any thoughts?

What makes you think someone is retarted enough to trade you Arrieta for Braun and Velasquez?

Cause he already said he would consider doing it...he's desperate for a move, in the mid to low level in standings

i dont think velasquez holds that much value in anything short of a dynasty league, for the exact reasons you mentioned above.

hes inconsistent, young, and going to be on an innings limit on a team expected to regress.

if i had arrieta with an abundance of pitching and i lacked offense, it would take another solid piece with braun to make me think twice.

I wouldn't trade much hitting.. I'd try and trade two lesser pitchers for a better one.

Choo no lock to do anything and JBJ could fall off anytime the exact same way he did last year. Not to mention Trumbo currently over achieving and Mazara could hit the rookie wall.

I hear what you're saying, I'm not banking on Choo and I don't expect JBJ to continue his torrid pace. Trumbo's average will likely fall but his power is for real especially in that lineup and at Camden, 30/90 is a lock. Mazara has the pedigree to make me comfortable with him. I am ok if there's 1 or 2 average hitters in my lineup because the rest of my team will carry in terms of power.

The other guy has pitching depth and he needs hitting, which is why braun is in the package
