Recently started playing again, used to play competitive as a kid. So like 15 year break now.

I feel it's a technique issue because depending on how I throw it can feel like I'm tearing my bicep and shoulder. The pain is really bad and then goes away after a few minutes. If I throw another way, zero pain at all but I don't feel there's as much power behind it.

I've been told you're supposed to use your back for the throw, not your bicep. Bicep pain is a sigh of not using tight muscles in your back (eg rotator cuff).

Anyone know about this stuff?

Well... Most of your power comes from your core and through your hip rotation. I dunno what the hell this back stuff is. Never heard that.

Your rotator cuff is what holds your shoulder joint in place, not your back
