so im in a $200 buy in fantasy league, and this season will be our third. i barely missed the playoffs in the first season, but last year i had the best record and finished in 2nd place, needing just one more steal to secure the win.

anyway, here are the notable rules for keeper selections:

keep up to 5 players
if you keep less than 5 players, you get to draft early (say you keep 4, you get a 4th rd pick before all the people who kept 5 get to pick)
you can ONLY keep a player 3 times
if you keep a player 3 times, at the end of the year, he falls out into the FA pool

my keepers arent exactly great. i had a very deep team that carried me to 2nd, but i dont have an obvious 5 worth keeping

here are the players im considering:

max sherzer - already kept twice
gerrit cole
corey kluber
jose bautista - already kept twice
ryan braun - already kept twice
miguel sano
troy tulowitzki
mookie betts

id love to package a deal where i move one or more of my players i kept twice for equal or better players, but i dont know if i can swing that right now.

mookie betts has the skillset to be a top 10 fantasy player, but i dont think i can keep him based on potential, especially since i think i can draft him in the 6th-8th round if i really want to.

that leaves my other 7 players

is tulo worth a keeper still?
will kluber get back closer to his 2014 season?
is sano the real deal? is he worth keeping at this point, knowing i can only keep him 3 times and potentially miss his prime?

who do you guys think i should keep? keep in mind i dont have to keep 5 players. i can keep less without any sort of punishment.

I would keep

Max
Cole
Klubs
Sano
Betts

I assume the 5 guys you keep go in the first 5 rounds? then you just draft regular from there?
(In my league we get to keep the player 1 round before he was drafted the year before. So last year I drafted AJ pollock in the 15th round and I can keep him in the 14th this year.)

Win now mode
Betts
Cole
Sherzer
Jose
Tulo

bet on the future/scared of injury decline

Betts
Cole
Sherzer
Sano

trade Jose or Tulo if possible and keep the other.

Admittedly, i may be a bit biased towards Betts but i think he will be a star

pretty active. a few members love to make trades, and a few almost always refuse em.

im surprised no one has said braun. i felt hes pretty automatic unless i trade him.

its almost always win now mode. i can only keep players 3 times, so if i take that into consideration, its only for up to 3 years and not the entirety of their careers.

That's my list, ASSUMING, that it's an even league(meaning pitching is weighted the same as hitting). With those three starters, you can essentially take offense rounds 6-12 and fill in your pitching with depth towards the end of the draft. Bautista and Sano offer a lot of power, meaning you can grab some "cheaper" hitters that can provide you with good average, modest pop, and decent speed at a lower price to round out your team.

Braun and Tulo have too much of an injury history for me in a league of this magnitude when you have notable replacement level guys that you could have instead. If you keep Braun+Tulo and they both miss 50+ games, you're basically just done. Of course anyone can get hurt, but it's almost a guarantee at this point that they will both miss time.

e; Can players only be kept for three years total or just three years on YOUR team? Because if it's just YOUR team, you can flip scherzer and bautista after next season for a star.
