Being honest with myself here. It's hard to ignore the talent on that other side.
They also have the best manager in the American League right now in Ned Yost.
The Royals have a better team with more postseason experience than the Astros (they reached Game 7 of the World Series last year for a reason), but it's one game and anything can happen. I'm feeling nervous about Game 5 tonight but I really shouldn't be because my expectations shouldn't be too high or unreasonable.
Any long-time Houston sports fan knows when something is too good to be true it probably is.
The way the Royals came back to win Game 2 and Game 4 after trailing both games 4-1 and 6-2, respectively, was a credit to the resiliency and heart of their team. Almost any other team in that situation would have lost and been eliminated already.
It's just tough because the Astros had an amazing opportunity to move on to the 2015 ALCS.
Now the Royals are at home and have all the momentum going into tonight's winner-take-all game.
I've had a great time watching the Astros play all year long. The most fun I had since they made that incredible World Series run back in 2005. It's been ten years too long waiting to see playoff baseball again. So I can't feel too bad even if the Astros lose tonight. They can head into the off-season knowing exactly what they have to do in free agency. The core of this team has a chance to be really good for the next seven, eight, nine years, etc... etc... They could be a postseason team for a long time. This is just the beginning.
But if somehow, by some miracle, they can pull off the road upset tonight and advance to the ALCS.
I don't even know what I'll do or how I'll feel. I'd be speechless but also on cloud nine. It's been fun.
I love all of you guys. If it ends tonight it ends tonight against a better team.
If the run continues to the 2015 ALCS I'll be thankful. Either way, I'm content.
That's all I have on my mind. Thank you for your time. Enjoy the games.
