They just put up the graphic about the wild card teams last year, so it got me curious what people think about the new format.

Is the supposed 'disadvantage' wild card get by having to go through the 1-game playoff going to actually translate into those teams not going as deep as they used to?

General consensus is that people aren't high on the WC teams. I voted 3 btw.

supposed???? its a major disadvantage, the cubs could get 2 starts from the hottest pitcher in baseball if they didn't have to do the 1 game playoff

I agree with you guys completely, but I want to keep an eye on these numbers as they develop each year.

In the 17 previous seasons with the old format, WC teams won an average of 1.88 series per year.
In the 3 years with the new format, WC teams have won 2, 0 and 5 series (average : 2.33). So 2 of the 3 years have seen more wins previous system's average.

I'm not drawing any conclusions from these results. I just wanna put a screenshot of where this poll stood before these WC series so that we know how anomalous this year's results are.
