Rumors keep coming up about the Lester contract and it's getting annoying.
If it's anything more than 4-5 years, let him walk. Especially if he wants 25 mllion.
It was just 2 years ago this guy had a 4.82 ERA. 3.75 last year.
That isn't 25 million worthy, sorry.

agreed. lester is a solid pitcher, but he isnt worth the same money as a king felix or kershaw. he isnt even close to that calibur.

your ownership spends money, if they let lester walk they will find something somewhere that will return a better value than him at 25mil/yr.

If he was in his mid 20's i'd do it, but he's going to start the season at 31. How many guys live up to their contract when they sign at that age?
I'll pass.

I wouldn't even give Lester 18m/year.

Maybe 15. Maybe.

with the way contracts are going in baseball, id say 18 is fair market value for his skillset.

a decent #1/solid #2 usually gets that.

i know that YOU wouldnt give him that, but hes probably worth 18.

We offered him 70/4 at the beginning of the season and he turned it down.
I'm pretty sure he isn't going to sign for anything under 22.5 if its 4 years.

then they should let him go then and get players of the same skillset for cheaper.

Y'all are crazy. Lester has the 6th highest pitcher fWAR in baseball from 2010-2014....

I'd give him $100mm over any other pitcher hitting the market next season(yes, that includes Scherzer). That 4/$70m offer the RedSox gave him earlier was a slap in the face.
