I'm just as excited about Jarred Cosart as I was back in 2001 when Roy Oswalt took the league by storm as a rookie with a 14-3 record and 2.73 ERA. He had finished second in the 2001 NL rookie of the year voting behind Albert Pujols despite being called up in June of that year.
Jarred Cosart was called up right before the all-star break this year, making his second big league start tonight, so he has zero chance to win the 2013 AL rookie of the year award. But I do expect him to end the season close to 10 wins and an ERA under 3. Hopefully he has another impressive start tonight.
Tonight's game, I'll be cheering for an Astros win. I think we can win most of the starts that Cosart makes as a rookie.
We won his first start and that was the last game the team won. 6 losses in a row entering tonight. LOL
Once we call up Mark Appel, possibly on September 1, we're going to have two horses in the rotation.
I'm really excited for 2014 next year. Already have a countdown for spring training inside of my head.
