I think it was a great move.
I know nothing about the pitcher that the Nats gave up, but Span is a great player.
Has always been an above replacement player in every aspect-- fielding and baserunning, and great offensively with a good OBP.
Im more of a Jays fan, I would have loved him to be on the Jays over someone like Melky Cabrera

not sure why you don't like this trade, this past season was the first time Span had a wRC+ of over 100 and that was thanks to an inflated BABIP. His speed is always there for defense and basepaths (though he hasn't stolen many bases considering his speed).

Never said I disliked it. Just saying that it seems as soon as our fans have enuf time to know the team, they get rid of all the well known players (with the exception of Joe, obviously).

For how many years in a row? I just hope they have their younglings MLB ready while Joe is still alive or our efforts were likely a waste of time.

I checked, its two years.
They were a 90+ win team in 2010 and since, easily 90+ loss team for the long run. Tigers and White Sox aren't getting any worse.
Indians and Royals might maintain their status quo.
