The problem is, people are too used to wanting top line talent from the draft. The MLB takes in much more talent levels than any other sport does. It's not just the top 1% like in football, it uses lots more "average players". I'm probably explaining this poorly, but the essence is that most prospects will be serviceable players and not stars.
idk if using football is a good example... 6th, 7th 8th rounders often get playing time in their 1st year in the league
basketball would be a better example
