News: Jarred Cosart has been sent down to Triple-A Oklahoma City, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Spin: The plan was always for Cosart to make the spot start and head back down to Triple-A after the game. The fact that he pitched so incredibly well in his Major League debut might just mean a faster return.

We should just keep Jarred Cosart and Mark Appel in the minors the rest of this season to finish tanking for the first overall pick in 2014. And then we can draft Carlos Rodon number one overall next June. Then the Astros will have an amazing and young starting rotation of Mark Appel, Carlos Rodon and Jarred Cosart. That's going to be a dynamic righty, lefty, righty trio for the next 10-plus years.

The Astros can't publically admit to tanking but it's obvious what their plans are.
They have tons of talent in the minors -- at least seven or eight guys -- who could come up right now and be legitimate upgrades.
Second base and catcher are the only two positions the Astros don't have a better player waiting to be called up.

It's sort of scary to think how much better the Triple-A and Double-A teams are compared to the Astros.
The goal is for the Major League team to be the most talented but that isn't the case right now for Houston.

LMAO. Something special is going on in South Beach. Keep it up fighting fish.

The race for the 1st overall pick in 2014

1. Astros 33-61
2. Marlins 35-58

Since June 8, the Miami Marlins have a winning 19-14 record and 6 of those losses were winnable games they lost by 1 run.

The Marlins start a 7-game road trip tomorrow night: 3 at Milwaukee and 4 at Colorado
The Astros start a 6-game home stand tomorrow night: 3 vs Mariners and 3 vs Athletics

I think Miami will go 5-2 in those games and the Astros will go 1-5 in those games.

Just a quick peak at the Astros remaining schedule

There is no way we're blowing the first pick. Our second half schedule is tougher than nails.
The Mariners, Blue Jays and White Sox games worry me but we should still lose most of those.
20 guaranteed losses left against Oakland and Texas. All I can say is, "Me Gusta!"

Picked up George Springer in my keeper.
Keith Law said he could be a 30/30 guy, probably a 20/30 guy for sure.

Better be right.

I expect him to be a September 1 call up when the rosters expand. He'll get a month worth of MLB playing time and still classify as a rookie going into the 2014 season. We should already have the first pick locked up by late August so we can afford to have a winning month in September.

Yes. He has all the makings of a five-tool player. The only flaw people can find in his game is striking out a little too much but he'll improve there.

He was ready to make the team back in spring training. Not sure why he didn't.

Yessss. Brandon Barnes with the cycle. Just hustled for a double.
Astros getting spanked 9-3 by the Mariners in the bottom of the 8th though.

9-6 game now. Brett Wallace two-run shot. LOL, shit. Seattle better hold on and win. Marlins already lost 2-0 to the Brewers so we have to lose to stay three games ahead in the loss column for the first pick in the 2014 draft next June.

Triple for Altuve. Ugh. Inb4 we have a game again...

Thank goodness for Chris Carter. The guy is so un-clutch. Had a chance to tie the game but grounded out instead.
