You also promised machado

Wrong. I promised one of them. I said Phillies will go after both, but Harper was #1 and Mochado was #2 on their wanted list.

@jessespector
21 minför 21 minuter sedan

Bartolo Colon will be 58 at the end of Bryce Harper’s contract, and also probably his teammate on the Phillies that year.

Bryce Harper's 13-year deal will take him to age 39, at an average of $25.4 million per year.

Meanwhile, the Tigers will pay Miguel Cabrera $32 million in his age 40 season in 2023.

Ages of the four biggest free-agents when they signed with the #Phillies

Pete Rose: 37
Jim Thome: 32
Cliff Lee: 32
Bryce Harper: 26

Signing a superstar this young is unprecedented.

I really dont understand how he went thru all this to sign a weaker AAV contract than both Machado and Arenado

Especially if the rumor is true that LA offered 200ish over 5ish years......

I just dont get it

330M guaranteed money. theres no opt out in the contract.
either the phillies take it for 13 years or they offload him + contract ie Giancarlo. either way he's getting 330M
and 200/5 I dont think was ever offered and harper wanted more years because he and everyone else knows that he'll probably be done in that time.
hes also worse than machado and especially arenado at a less valuable position that he doesnt even do well there at

Bryce Harper doesn't have any opt outs in his contract.
