Britton has no deception on his fastball.
He can lick the lower half of the plate all he wants, but they will drive that ball in the majors. In the minors he can get away with it and even tuck that ball even lower and basically in the dirt. They will swing at it. But in the majors, you have more seasoned hitters with better eyes, they let those borderline pitches go. Thus, pitch count rises, bad counts happen, etc.
This is the main problem with Britton. He simply is not fooling anyone at the MLB level. The talent is there, but if you want to be a sinkerball pitcher, you need to be able to dive that ball and STILL show some form of deception.
Britton is an interesting case, I think he needs to leave the O's system ASAP, maybe resurrect his career somewhere else.
It would have also helped had Bundy not had his elbow problems earlier in the year. However. We will have next year...See what happens with Schoop and Urrutia.
