This one's for the Nola hater 🙄

Aaron Nola was fantastic on Sunday night in a crucial series-clincher against Atltanta. Nola threw 100 pitches: 39 fastballs, 34 knuckle-curves, and the other 27% divided between the cutter, changeup, and sinker. He generated 21 swinging strikes. The offspeed stuff looked the best it’s looked all season, and he fanned nine batters across those six innings.

I don’t know how many athletes I can name in the city of Philadelphia since 2010 that are more underappreciated than Aaron Nola.

These are his MLB ranks since 2018:

Innings Pitched: 1st (1,237)
K/9: 3rd (9.97)
ERA: 4th (3.60)
FIP: 4th (3.45)
fWAR: 3rd (28.4)

But speaking of Wheeler:

Since the start of the 2020 season, Zack Wheeler is 1st in Major League Baseball in fWAR (23.7), 1st in FIP (2.98), 1 of 2 pitchers with an ERA under 3.00 (Wheeler and Corbin Burnes), and is top five in HR/9, BB/9, and BABIP. There isn’t a pitcher in baseball that you should want to get the ball in a Game 7 right now over Zack Wheeler. He’s proven his playoff dominance. He’s shown that when the lights get brighter, his stuff gets nastier. He’s shown that he’s a workhorse year in and year out.

There’s been one pitcher in all of Major League Baseball who has thrown more innings since the start of the 2020 season. That pitcher is Aaron Nola, his teammate and fellow ace.

So he pitched well against the Braves JV team!? Fucking nice man. Stop with the quality starts shit. It's a bullshit stat. No one in the world considers a 4.50 a quality start.

Since 2018!? Why not include the year before? Or you know, his entire career lmao. Stop cherry picking shit.

You legit cry every week that Nola doesn't give them 6 innings. Yet, here he is giving them the second most quality starts (6+ IP REQUIRED) in the NL lmao. Make it make sense?

Did Nola bang your wife in the past or something? Why do you hate him so much for no reason 😂

The reality is the man is a workhorse like no other. #1 in IP the last 7 years is kinda wild. Theres no cherry picking needed. Thats a massive straight forward sample size LOL. The stats speak for themselves. No reason to hate him as much as you do (aside from a personal grudge ofc).

LOL another leadoff Schwarber HR to start the game. That's now 4 HR's in his last 7 AB's. Insanity...

Congrats, DM. Phillies are hot again. Damn. Astros down 9-0 in the 1st at Cincinnati. About to lose two straight.
WTF! Pardon me for getting a little emotional. This has potential to be our worst game in franchise history guys.

A good thing I didn't have forum gold. I'd have bet big on the Astros tonight. I'd have went all in for this game...
At least the Texans play on Sunday. They'll smash the Colts on the road. Get that Super Bowl season started up!

And the Rockets will be starting camp soon. Deep roster. Tons of young talent. Excellent coaching. I think they'll be in the playoffs.

EDIT: I can laugh about this Astros game tonight since they have a 6.5-game lead in the AL West. But the Mariners will cut it to 5.5 tonight I'm sure.

Read my posts

I said he rarely gets out of the 6th inning anymore. He's averaging 6 IP this season with an ok ERA.

I also said he was a workhorse and an innings eater. Which is true as that's what he's has been.
