i never liked him ever since he came over. i was a johny mac fanatic and always though his bat would come around if he got to be a regular, but no, they always brought in someone to take his position including davd fucking eckstein who was awful. bautista cut into johny macs playing time and my brother and i have hated him ever since lol. i just find him over rated even with the 2 seasons he had. coming over. wish he could hit above .250 with RISP, think hes like .230 since joining the team
but i dont really want to see him leave the team. hes a fan favorite, good leader, has fun in the dugout, keeps it loose, etc. also like how hes always talking to someone if they're having a rough go. he will never be a favorite for me, but i dont want him gone either. if he stops thinking hes gods gift to hitting i might start to like him more.
From 1977, (Since the Blue Jays organization started) to this day, 2013, John McDonald has been the worst offensive player that the Blue Jays have EVER had, with a minimum of 1000 Plate Appearances -- Yes, even worse than Alfredo Griffin. He got a chance to become a near-regular in 2007 and he was shit. If you honestly think he would even put up marginally-shit numbers offensively, you're delusional. He has got well over 1,400 plate appearances with the Jays in his career and he has barely clipped .600 OPS...To put that into perspective for you, Adam Lind's 2012 season, as horrible as it was, is far greater than what McDonald would ever put up offensively in his life.
Don't give him too much credit, he got playing time because we never had a good shortstop during his stretch here. You would be a better batter than him, and many pitchers are probably better batters than him.
More than 60% of his career Atbats were 9th in the lineup for a reason. I know he is shit, the organizations that had him knew he was shit, but he did play well defensively, and fans wanted to watch him for his glove work.
