If the Astros do this right they can be a dynasty for a while. It's almost like handpicking your future squad with all these top picks lol

Exactly.

Im hoping by maybe 2016 or so, we will be legit contenders.

Until then, we suffer.

The Astros run differential this season is a mind boggling -81 and by far the worst in all of baseball. They're on pace to finish as one of the top five worst teams in MLB history during the modern era. The second worst team this season in run differential is the Marlins at -56

At any rate, we're only one game worse than the Miami Marlins for the first pick in the 2014 MLB draft.

1. Astros 10-28
2. Marlins 11-27

We will lose at Detroit tonight. The Marlins have the day off. So this is our chance to be two games ahead in the loss column.
I'll probably watch some of tonight's game just for the heck of it. Detroit may pound us 15-4.

Looking at our remaining schedule this season, I'm having a hard time seeing a 40-122 record team. We'll win 30 to 39 games at best. Unless they call up some of their good prospects. I'd expect to see Jonathan Singleton, Jarred Cosart, Geroge Springer and Delino DeShields Jr. to name a few, called up this season but the Astros probably don't want their MLB service time to start until next year. A September call up for one or two of those guys is more likely so they don't classify as rookies until the 2014 season.

That way they'll be under club control an extra year before becoming unrestricted free agents. But if they pan out they're going to get paid regardless. My guess is that the Astros really do want the first overall pick in 2014 (may as well keep loading up on the farm), because they can easily finish ahead of the Marlins just by calling up some players from their first-place Triple-A and Double-A teams.

Houston can do some damage in the draft next month and next year. This should be a huge boost for the entire organization. They're already in the top five in minor league talent. They went from ranked 30th (dead last) in 2009 to top five in 2013. They'll soon be number one in that department.

Robbie Grossman leading off and Jimmy Paredes hitting second tonight.

.194 and .182 hitters. LOL, we sacrifice good hitters for guys who are fast runners.
Why not just train a world-class sprinter to play baseball? I'm sure he can hit about the same.

Jose Altuve, who may lead the Majors in hits this season, hitting third, when he's arguably the best lead-off hitter or second-hitter in all of baseball. This is driving me crazy. Call up Jonathan Singleton and George Springer soon. We'd instantly have a pretty good 1-2-3 with Altuve, Springer and Singleton.

George Springer is hitting over .300 with 12 home runs at Corpus Christi this season. He's a flat-out stud who can run, hit and fields the ball as well as any in center field. He shined in spring training and won a roster spot with his amazing play, but somehow the Astros sent him back to the minors when the young kid was clearly the best outfielder we had on the field every game back in March.

And you wonder why George Postolos resigned as President and CEO of the Houston Astros? He probably got fed up with a business that doesn't promote their best employees. In any other profession, what the Astros are doing, just isn't good business.

Jose Altuve is out for an unknown amount of time with a sublexed right jaw. But being the player he is, he wanted to play tonight.
May 13 at 10:40 PM: Jose Altuve (jaw) told Astros manager Bo Porter that he would be ready to play on Tuesday.

And then this an hour ago. May 14 at 11:50 AM

Astros placed 2B Jose Altuve on the bereavement list.

Altuve, who suffered a subluxed jaw in a collision with teammate Jimmy Paredes on Monday, has left the team following the death of his grandmother. Players are permitted to stay on the bereavement list for a minimum of three days and a maximum of seven.

So Jose Altuve may not play the rest of this road trip. We're going to get swept by the Tigers and Pirates with or without him anyways.
First team to reach 30 losses this season. We'll be 10-30 after tonight's game.
